A weird noise just started on my '04 Mini, so I need some advice. I have this high-pitch noise (almost sounds like ringing in your ears) and gets louder if you turn the steering wheel while waiting in line at the bank, etc. I just rec'd my part for the hydraulic motor mount and have not installed it yet. Could this noise be coming from the mount that needs to be replaced? I want to "nip-it-in-the-bud" quickly. Also, can someone tell me (if you are looking at the car from the front) what the canister is and what fluid it holds to the right on the coolant expansion tank? Thanks

 

As far as I know that sound is "normal" on minis, since the power steering is not the same as the ones on our moms station wagon. Ours are also electric!
