No idea, but problems, got codes!

I have a 2003 MCS and it's been having a couple problems lately. It has 108K so I figure it's about that time to start checking and replacing a couple things. I expected it with this many miles. First I was having a misfire, so I replaced the plugs with iridium's and the wires with 8.5mm performance wires. Misfire gone! Then my power steering was turning on and off randomly, now it's working better then ever and has been for the past couple weeks lol. But now something else has begun...this is what happens, start the car, take off down the street. Sometimes it just happens and sometimes it only happens when I hit a bumps. (It happened the first time when I hit a bump) Shift to first, slowly let out of the clutch, then the car jumps like I dropped the clutch! So I shift to second, same thing as I release the clutch. Check engine light comes on and blinks, I lose all power. Then when I push in the clutch to save it, it dies. Start it back up check engine light is off, car runs fine. lol, no idea! And it only happens every now and then!

Here are the codes:
P0171: System too lean (bank 1) - This was coming up when I had the misfire (3rd cylinder which is in bank 1) but now it was there when I read the codes today.

P1688: Manufacturer Contrl
Auxiliary Inputs
Auxiliary Outputs

P0107:
MAP/BARO circuit low input

Any help would be great! Don't really want to take it to the dealer because first off they are going to charge me like crazy and it's like an hour away! There is a BMW place down here and they work on Mini's but they can't help with most of the ONLY dealer stuff because they are a BMW shop. Thanks again!

I had the P0108 MAP/BARO circuit High input and it seamed like a misfire. I replaced everything the wires coil pack and plugs still samething. I got this code once like 6 months ago then it went a way then I noticed the car would not accelerate smoooth and medium throttle. Then 4 days ago the mis happend and I replaced everything. Then I couldnot get boost without that mis feeling jerk may car to a slow crawl. I figured it was the absulute manifold pressure sensor and instead of just buying one I took it to the stealership and paid them to tell the samething I knew. They replaced it and it runs awsome.

Your sensor could be failing. Its only like $75 on mini mania.

Well maybe I will try that, it's been running great the last couple days and all the sudden today I was on an incline and the car just died and the check engine light blinked, then I restarted it and ran great. I have no idea what's going on but I will try that for sure, I have read either that or a map sensor.

Not sure if you got it figured out yet but I have been having the same problem off and on for a little while. Turns out it's a bad boost sensor; part ordered from Mini and will be replaced in the morning.

P1237,p0107 & P1688

Just thought I would share a problem I just worked thru. Minirox has been on occation throwing code P1237(upsteam map sensor cicuit low) for the past few months. She ran fine but the check engine light would pop up & after a few starts would clear. Just weekend before last she went into limp mode shut her down and restarted she ran fine. Then she got progressively worse. Throwing code P0107(map/baro circuit low upstream of supercharger) and then of course P1688 (limp mode). Did some research list of probable causes:failed bypass valve, throttle body, crank pulley failure, loose reduction pulley(after market) Loose belt, vacumn leak, colapsed breather hose. and last but not least sensor failure.
Checked the crank & reduction pulley for any falure, they checked out. Checked belt it was worn but not to bad, replaced anyway. Checked electrical connections and all the other things on the list checked out. Still limp mode. Finally broke down and bought Map and Tmap sensors. Replaced map first, drove car limp mode then Tmap car runs good again no codes.

In other words the car was not failing the sensor was. Technology ain't it great.
