MINI shuts down after start up...?

It's 32 degrees here, and although I know you are not supposed to drive with little fuel at this temp, I did it anyway.

When I took a sharp right hand corner, my DSC came off and the car shut down. I coasted down to the bottom of the hill and cut the car off. When I cut it back on, the check engine light was on and DSC would not turn on. Also, the car would start, go to idle, dip below one, and come back over one, and then shut down completely. Sometimes it would still run.

Towards the end (in my neighborhood thankfully) the car would not start at all. I had push it about 3/4 a mile to it's current resting place in front of my house.

It is a 2005 model, with about 93k miles. ANY advice would be great. Hopefully going to get it running enough so that I can go get the code read.

Well you could very well just be out of gas, depending on how you're defining "little fuel" In which case get someone to take you can a gas can to go get 5 gallons, then go to the station and fill up, and it's not just filling the tank but about 1.3ish of those first gallons will need to get from the tank and refill the fuel lines, so you may need to let the fuel pump run a little bit (you should hear it kick in when the key is in the on position without the engine started, kind of a whirring motor sound coming from the rear seat area). Thankfully I've never had to do this yet, but that also means I can't tell you how tempermatic the MINI will be to get going again (fuel injected cars are supposed to be a difficult process).

If you can't get the car moving, and there's gas in it (or you think there should be enough gas in there) then you can usually get a free loaner (there's likely a small security deposit) for a code reader from autozone or advance auto to take it to the car and pull the code, which will help give a better indication of the lights.

You can also do a quick check of all electrical and computer connections... I once had limp mode kick in going over bumps after I shook one of the two ECU wiring harness connections loose. All sorts of codes that weren't making sense on my way home from the track, after the second coasting to a parking lot from the highway, I found the loose connection and problem fixed. I traced it back from in car video to the SES light triggered after the car was hopping on start of my last run at the drag strip that night.

run a can of dry gas too, you might've collected moisture in the tank.

This sounds familiar. Just last weekend I ran quite low in my '02 MCS. I filled up and drove the 1/2 mile or so to my place and everything seemed fine. The next morning on startup it idled rough and died. I had to keep the gas on to keep it running. I had my mechanic friend come over with his code reader and it was throwing these codes:

P1125
P1126
P0638
P0456

They basically point at the throttle and the fuel evaporator system which hints at a possible leak. There seem to be a lot of threads about these codes and some tale chasing to get rid of them. One thread pointed to the hoses in or around the charcoal canister as a leak prone area.

By the time we checked the codes it was late I decided to limp it into the shop the next day. Upon Start up that next morning it fired up normally but the SES light was on. I took it around the block to see how it drove and it seemed fine. The next time I started the car the SES light went off. The car fixed itself?

I'm hoping it was just a hiccup in the fuel system as suggested. I will never go that low on fuel again and as long as the dash lights stay off I'm happy.
