Low speed shimmy in steering wheel - Help!

2002 MCS, 97000 miles -recently noticed a shake, that has gotten worse in the last three weeks, in the front end on acceleration and also a shimmy in the steering wheel. Only happens on acceleration, and appears to go away at cruising over 40 MPH.

I put on 4 new tires today, and noticed that the front right was worn very heavily on the inside edge and about 2 inches in from the inside sidewall. Basically, where I was down to the wear bars on the other tires, this one from the left front was completely shot.

Any ideas? Wheel bearing? Tie rod end?

Any help to diagnose the problem is appreciated.

Thanks.

Sounds like the alighnment is bad...that may lead you to bushings or tie-rods...
Safe to say the new tires balanced ok?

Thanks, yes after seeing the condition of the right front tire, the alignment is definitely off. I am having it aligned today, and will have him check the bushings and tie rod ends as well.

Balance appears to be fine- installed four new Yokohama S Drives and they balance out pretty well.

Will post after alignment....thanks
