'09 MCS Bonnet rubbing bumper and fenders

I'm curious, anyone else having this issue?
My bonnet is chipping away at the paint and I'm starting to get surface rust.
I bought my MINI used, but I wonder if MINI would cover this. My latches are loose and the screws appear stripped.
Am I alone with this, or have others experienced it?
Thanks

sounds as if the rubber stops are rotated all the way in or are missing. there should be one on each side of the engine bay

Hmmmm - I also notice a body kit of one sort or another - that's not the stock rear bumper. factory Aero? I dunno, but not stock so question is who put it on? If not MINI installed, the window for MINI to say 'not us' is open.

I'd be investigating the possibility the car has been rear ended and repaired...and not repaired well. Probably not much you can do about it because if there is ANY evidence this is true, MINI has a get out of jail card so far as rust is concerned.

Just one of the down sides of buying a used car . . . .

Your only real plan is to take it to a dealer and act like it was a car you bought new and have no idea . . . and see what happens. I'd rate your chance of success at less than 30%. A long shot. When they see the stripped screws and loose latches they'll asked who worked on the car. Without documents to prove it was a MINI dealer you are probably out of luck.

Thanks for the replys.
I have adjusted the rubber stops, so there is no more rubbing.
As for the Aero kit, yes it is factory installed, and I can insure that my MINI was never hit. Its just odd that the bonnet latches (hood) are loose with stripped screws. I can fix that myself, not a big deal, but it seems like the bonnet wasn't adjusted properly and causing the paint damage. The rubber bumpers were not adjusted out enough.
To be honest I'm really not concerned if MINI would address it, I am more curious if this is a common complaint among owners?

My latches are loose and the screws appear stripped

huh????

BONNET = the thing over the motor

BOOT = the rear hatch

Yes, the bonnet.....not the boot
No pictures, but if there were other owners experiencing this I would.
The bonnet must have been moving while I drove, and was rubbing against
the painted bumper and arches.
As for the loose latches, this allowed the bonnet to move around. By adjusting the rubber stops, I was able to minimize the rubbing.
Sounds like its just my MINI, and not all that common.
