2010 base model with 1,900 miles engine whine

I read the cold start issues, but this is a whine, not a rattle.

I recorded and uploaded a wav file of the noise on to a google site here: https://sites.google.com/site/htmltestbiz/

here is the wave file: https://sites.google.com/site/htmlte...attredirects=0

any thoughts?

Yes, take it back to the dealer. It will be either the water pump, a tensioner/pulley and or the slide rail.

I've had all three replaced for this same whine.

Keep us updated!

Is that recorded from the engine bay, or from inside the car? I get a 1 second whine only on cold start-up, but its literally one second and I hear it from inside the car (obviously) when I press the start button.

Thanks,

Recorded from outside.

sounds like the starter gear wasn't pulling back. But of course the sound went away.

Going back for a check in a week.

There is also a TSB for vacuum pump whine. It is considered normal (of course if it is the vacuum pump).
