MINI versus the car wash

A couple weekends ago I took my brand new Clubman to the touchless car wash and water started pouring in the driver's side window at the back. I had to put my arm up to keep it from spraying me! I took it back to the dealer where they replaced the seal. While I was driving it back it was raining but all seem good, no leaks.
Took it yesterday to another touchless car wash and there were drips coming from the tops of both windows. It wasn't bad, just few drops.
Does anyone know whether MINIs can be washed in a high pressure car washes or do I need to take it all the way back to the dealer again?

Lauren

Something is amiss. I have to do that on occasion in colder months and never had a problem. And that is when the seal is the coldest providing less of a seal. So Imagine what it would be like in the winter time

Do the 2nd gen windows lurch upwards 1/4 inch like the 1st gen MINI after closing the doors ? If so, could be they were not adjusted properly by the factory ? I have heard the adjustment is not an easy one. Many times dealerships do not like to do them as sometimes the glass breaks.

Either way, better to have it taken care of while under warranty.

friscosmo - i've used the high pressure wash and have never had a problem. Its not a design thing, its something specific to your window seal.

Crap

Looks like another trip to the dealer for me! I live in Harrisburg, PA so the closest dealerships for me are Baltimore (68 mi), Philly (69 mi) and Allentown (70 mi). The drive would be enjoyable if I didn't live in PA.
The windows do go back up to hit the seals when I close the door but the water seems to be sneaking in the back of the window where the glass only sits on the seal.
I blasted it with the hose with a nozzle this morning and still got little drips. Sigh.

Yes, the Gen2 windows do that, as well... the idea is to help ensure a good seal against wind noise without the glass rubbing the seal every time the door is opened.

You could try the window reset where you hold the switch up and down for 15+ seconds in each position, don't remember the details exactly but you can search it. My driver side window had gotten a little out of sync and was letting a little water in. I did the reset and it sealed better, no water leaks since.
