How do you access the spark plugs?

Could someone explain how to remove the spark plug wires? I was poking around under the hood to teach myself how to service my car. When removing the engine cover, there are odd-looking clips over the spark plugs. How do they come off? Could someone provide some pictures on how to remove them? I learned from servicing my Dodge Intrepid to undo and screw the plugs back in every couple of years otherwise they'll be a nightmare to remove. I've heard from a co-worker that on one car he had: the spark plug was rusted in place and it took brute force and a LOT of WD40 to break it loose.

Also, is the plastic cover over the battery removable? It's a ***** to get to if I want to scrub the battery caps off.

Pull up on the front of the clips...flip them up and towards the back of the car. This releases the wire from the coilpack and the coil pulls right out.

I can pull all four of my coilpacks straight up and out without disconnecting them from the harness. Don't know about other folks though. While you have the coils out give them a quick spray with some MAF cleaner since there tends to always be some residue on the electrodes. Also don't forget to let the engine cool overnight before pulling the plugs. Torque is 17 ft/lbs
