Is this a Just-a-cooper? If so, I'd say change the CVT oil. Preferably after every drive. Proper maintenance is a must on the CVT unless you like paying 3/4 of the price of the car to have it replaced. As far as difficulty, I'm not sure, If its like the 6 speed oil, it only takes a 4 foot tube and a wrench, and is super easy.

How do I know which one I got ? I can tell you that the car's shifter has at the base a +/- symbol next to the D letter . What does Justa mean?

Justa is the base model Mini Cooper or MC, and the other model is the S or sport model called the Mini Cooper S or MCS.

Just as He said. "Just-a-cooper" is what we call base MINIs. Also 2005 base models are sometimes called R50s.

If you truly do not know whether you have a base model or an S, If you have a hood scoop, you have an S. However, I bet The terminology was just the problem.

If you have a CVT the dealer or a Shop that knows Minis should tell you that you are getting a CVT flush at normal inspection 1 and 2s
If its a Cooper S Auto you will need to tell the shop you want to change the Oil because they are "sealed for life" or "lifetime Oil" according to BMW
