ECS Tuning, How well did the epoxy hold up in the cable end? I was doing my clutch this week and it disintegrated as i was pulling the end off. Cant seem to find a replacement as of yet. I thought about just filling the end (not where the ball goes obviously) with a high strength epoxy and just using that until I can find a replacement. just dont want to go through that and have it not work out.
I only had them like that for a emergency fix for a day or two till I got the cable. So I did not get to test it long term. Its worth a shot till the part becomes available again. Unless you want to take that end peiece to a machine shop and I bet them could make something that could be pressed in.
Damn, all these vendors posting on this forum and nobody has one. Hope my cables stay together until they're back in stock.

25-11-7-531-707 right cable is back in stock in Germany so if ordered it would be delivered in 2 weeks. 25-11-7-531-708 left cable is estimated arrival for stock in Germany on November 5th. If it does come into stock 11/5 it will take 2 weeks to deliver from that date. I will update once the left cable is confirmed in stock.

It's pretty stupid that MINI does not see fit to stock these in the North American market. I've had too many back ordered parts in the last year. This is one of the many reasons why I'm selling this car.

I was not told specifics, but it is possible they will be restocking this in the North American market. As of now, they are available and in stock in Germany for anyone that may be needing them.

It's still stupid when compared to my former Honda and Toyota. It seems that in less than two days with those vehicles I have the parts in hand.
Ordering parts out of Germany is a huge pain in the *** and instantly adds weeks to a parts order. I don't ever remember it being this bad with my BMW E30

I agree, it is inconvenient. I ran into issues with this with previous Audi's. Anytime they had to go in for something it seemed to take so long because all the parts needed to come from Germany.

Yea I here you, some E30 parts are hard to get like Mtechnic and some / most are NLA now. MINI has a smaller supply chain volume. So things take time.
Honda / Toyota do production runs in the 1000's to 10000's , MINI does in 100-500 at the most. I know I see all the volume and can see more then most people, if not more then the dealers .

These have now been stocked back into the North American market (we currently have stock). At least that's one less item needing to come from Germany.
I'm planning an extended road trip in my 2004 MCS and it is unnerving to think that a part would take several weeks if not months to be available if I broke down 1000's mile from home. This part seem to be a frequent issue. I've read several threads where the shifter goes completely limp and no tranny. I going to have to inspect my cables and replace them if I see any deterioration. What to think. Is it cost effective to replace the cable as a preventative maintenance?
May not be a bad idea. This system typically works very well, although there is a weak spot in the design. On the MINI, the spherical end joints at the transmission end are held by a rubber mount that can wear out and eventually tear away from the cable. In our case for our in house R53, the rubber surrounding the spherical end on the cable had worn away almost to this point. If it had separated, it could render the gearshift useless. We have a great DIY guide for the replacement HERE, which also provides some more information about it.
When i did mine: If the boot is torn ( letting water in on the front of the transmission ) or the end cable part is rusted ( between the nylon and end loop its only time, I waited on mine, then it stuck in the parking lot. Lucky I have parts here, last year.
So... what am I missing here guys? I waited 3 months for this cable and it looks nothing like the one I took off. haha. Can anyone tell me what i have wrong? this is a 2003 s, driver side one is broke... I bought the 707 one

Per the post from PelicanParts.com, yes. It also listed as such on their website.
Neither are correct for me... look how much bigger the ball cup is on the old one. Going to look today but I'm thinking someone put a different shift box in my mini
Look at the shifter lug , you need to see if you have condition A or condition B, also they might have changed out the shifter lug ( shift **** rod and base ) or maybe changed out the shifter linkage on top of the transmission. Also those ball cups on the older one get stretched out and cracked / widen over time and use, i would test it the new one. They snap on pretty tight.
