Heavy steering

So I've got a question for folks with more than one car...

We have a cooper R50 and the steering is really heavy feeling. We recently took it to the dealer who replaced the power steering pump, but quite frankly, it still feels heavy - especially in comparison to my VW.

So now i'm left wondering if my steering is actually fixed (per the dealership) or if something is still amuck.

Do our cars naturally have a heavy feel to the wheel?

Thoughts?

Check for the vacuum line leading up the brake booster. It might not be seated properly at one end or the other.

I have a Jaguar that had that problem. It was the power steering rack, the pump was fine.

One thing....the MINI has pretty heavy PS...it is not over-boosted.....(like GM cars)...it is kinda heavy...it is electric.....so I am not sure how the brake booster would affect it.....

Sorry, I got my thoughts mixed up. I was thinking back to having the vacuum line for power steering. Like, DUH!

ZippyNH, you seem to always catch me at my best.
