Blower Motor Woes

My 04S fan blower motor is making a terrible noise when the fan is on . It definitely is the blower motor bearing. Anyone ever replaced the motor or know of a how-to? Thanks for looking---

My 05 is in the shop now for the same issue. They say dont use it as it can blow the water pump and overheat the engine. The blower is $1500 new and $600 rebuilt. Mini said 6 hours labor.

Expensive part. A car should not need this part replaced.

It is mostly a result of poor serviceability design. The ports to add/change oil for the supercharger are hidden by the coupling of the water pump to the sc.

So if you want change the oil in the supercharger you basically have to remove the front of the car and remove the water pump.

That should just not be. BMW/Mini should do a better job in design.

Sorry guys. I'm referring to the fan motor inside the car and not the supercharger. It squeals when the fan is on.

Lol. Mine has been making the same noise for a while now. I can't believe the price they are trying to charge just for the fan motor it's crazy.

Blower motor noise only when cold

Hi everyone,

My R56 blower motor only make noise when it was cold outside, once the temperature warms up the noise disappeared. The noise only appears on low fan settings, when I turn up the fan speed the noise goes away. I did a search but cannot find anything related to temp and blower fan noise, any suggestions?

Thank you,

Sincerely,
mtgperson

Try the gen2 forums...most gen1 folks with '02-06' r50/r53 hard tops or the 07+08 cabrio's r52's know little about the gen2 cars unless they sold one to get a gen2!!
