replace water pump???

My 05 MCS needs a new super charger and I am wondering if I should replace the water pump. It was working fine and I am out of a job right now. But its only $220 more to get a new one.

When should I expect this pump to fail??? Should I replace.

The labor to do it alone later is more than the part alone so I'd do with with the supercharger. That's part of the reason we keep them in stock.

Agreed. Even if your water pump lasted another 30K (which it could), this is way too much work to go through later. Pay a little now, save big $$$ later.

Look at the drive key; does it have chewed rubber bits around it?
Is there evidence of fluid around the weep hole?
Did it squeal upon start-up?

If the answer is no to all three questions, don't replace the pump for proactive reasoning alone. Failed water pumps do happen, but instances are rare, much less so than failed water pump drive gears on the SC.

I agree, since they are in there removing parts have them do it now instead of waiting for it to fail.

Take a look at what else may fail in the near future and do it now; put it on a charge card.

I would say yes. In that case, leave the pump alone if it looks AOK on inspection.
