You guys were so great helping me with my heater core valve problem a while back. Now my husband's 06 mini S has started acting up. About 60 seconds after starting the ignition, the cooling fan comes on. It will go off after about a minute or so, but it will come on intermittently as he is driving. It does not run after the engine is switched off. It has coolant and the lines have been bled. Got any ideas what might be the problem?

 

Sounds like his low speed fan is out and what you are hearing is the high speed fan.

There is a thread that details how to fix that problem with an external resister. Otherwise the fan needs to be replaced.
