A/C Broke (again)

So it's been a while since my car gave me any trouble, but seeing as my warranty expired 100 miles ago I knew something was coming up.

Let me start by saying my A/C broke at the beginning of last summer (right around this time last year) and was repaired by the dealer (under warranty) for $2,800. They replaced almost the entire system, but I have to say, my car never felt the same since then. I don't know what they did, but my car has all kinds of little issues it never had before going there.

Fast forward to yesterday, I picked a friend up from the doctor, I'm driving her home when my A/C let out a loud hissing sound for about 10 seconds. I immediately shut the A/C off but the noise continued. Sounded like all my freon busted out somewhere. The A/C still turns on and sounds normal, but it only blows warm air.

Now, I need to fix this fast. I live in Miami. It's hot. It was 93º outside today and I had to drive with no A/C (and consequently no shirt.)

Any ideas on what happened? Anybody else experience this? Like I said, my warranty literally expired on Tuesday, and the damn thing broke on Thursday. My last A/C repair was almost $3000 and I'm definitely not paying to repair the same A/C that was replaced a year ago. (And I'm definitely not going back to the dealership that "repaired" it.)

Thanks in advance. BTW the car is an 05 R50 with a CVT.

It might be covered for as much as two years from the dealer after a repair. But at least one year. You should call them before that year passes.

Once I dig out the receipt I planned on giving them a ring. I dont want them touching my car tho. Last year it was almost stock, now it's got a cf hood that requires a special touch to open and close, and it's slammed on coils so you have to be very careful what you (attempt) to drive over.

Sounds like a hose blew out. Good luck and I agree - you should have some warranty coverage on the repair. If the dealer says no I'd get the MINI regional rep involved.
