Reverse sensors on Convertable

I am looking for information to activate the reverse sensors on my 2007 Mini Convertable. The shop I take my car to does not know the process. Could it be a fuse, or does the car need to be activated by a special device?

Do you mean that you have reverse sensors but they aren't working? If the sensors are installed on your car, they should be active. You probably have an issue of repair rather than activation. Check that its fuse isn't blown, which I think is F41.

Hi,

If it is the fuse that is blown, you likely have something else wrong. I have found on mine, that when the fuse is blown, it is due to the power steering motor fan being the issue. It is either clogged up, or blown itself. This should be checked, for when that motor is toast, your main power steering motor may not be too far behind, and that is a big repair bill.

Sorry, my earlier post had the wrong fuse number (now fixed, should be F41).

heli_guy is correct, fuse F41 is shared by the power steering cooling fan which is a fairly common failure in the MINI. If the F41 fuse is blown you should check the fan. Actually power steering fan failure is a potential fire hazard and you should try to take care of it soon.

I have an '05 MCc and about a year after I got my car the PDC (parking distance control) fuse blew it was replaced and my PDC functioned fine for the next 4 years this winter it blew again, replaced it, it blew again. And like many before have said it was my power steering fan, I'm well out of warranty and it cost $265 to replace including labor.

Thanks for all the suggestions, especially the comments about the power steering cooling fan. In my case the fan was siezed and got it replaced. I just may need to check that fuse also. My greatest frustration is that Alaska does not have a dealership, so no warranty work is done here. I would have to have it shipped to Seattle for repairs. Quality work is done in Alaska but is not covered by warranty.
