How about telling us what year and model your MINI is as the clock can be different in various model years.

2 buttons, I'm going with a 01-04. With the clock in the headliner.

A resetting clock sounds like the beginnings of a drained or slowly dying battery.

battery is new.
come to think of it, i was hard-wiring a radar detector, tried at the clock, not enough juice, so did it differently.
ill take a look at the wires again to see that they are connected properly.

Sounds like you may have cut the wire that provides full time power.

New battery or not, this is a classic symptom of a drained/bad battery.

Get it to a shop that can test it.

Is there even a slight chance that the fuse is bad? I know some clocks use one wire for the display (when the vehicle is powered up) and another wire (hot all the time) to keep the clocks memory. Just a random thought.
