P0705 Transmission Range Sensor

2004 MC Automatic
I'm new to the mini experience and the first 1 1/2 weeks have been quite an experience! I thought the power steering pump was out but was lucky in that it was just the electrical connection was loose. I now have a service engine soon light. I went to Autozone to pull any codes: P0705 Transmission Range Sensor. The transmission seems to be working fine. Any suggestions?
thanks for the help
Will

I noticed that the light went off the next morning when I went to work, then stayed off. I was turning on to our street yesterday evening (steep hill) and so I placed the shifter in SD mode. The light came back on.

p0705

i am having the same issue. with my 2006 r52 ECVT. transmission. the parts guy at the dealer said it could be theStart inhibit switchpart #24357518731.but i think before i replace it i will clean the connector on the sensor of the transmission and the under the shift lever inside the car.

i am also getting a P0301 P0300 and P0313 not sure if they are all related. or separate

also i will get the CVT transmission oil change. Transmission shop recommend every 50k miles.

Had the same problem P0705 when i bought the cooper. The previous owner had removed the shifter **** and installed an aftermarket ****. There is a rod that goes down into the shifter that touches a switch inside. My problem was no rod to touch but what if yours is broken or worn?
