Clutch help

I am replacing my clutch, have the flywheel bolted on an now I need to center the clutch disc so that I can stab my transmission. Does anyone have a trick for centering the clutch disc without the BMW tool? Alternatively, is there anyone in or near Dallas, TX that might lend me the tool for 2 hours?

Thank you CrazyIvan

I have a very similar tool that I picked up from NAPA a number of years ago. I think it would work perfectly except for the fact that on mine the perfect sized adapter is threaded on the wrong side. Since the crankshaft only provides about 1/2 inch of depth, I can't get mine to work quite right. Maybe I'll try to expand it a little by wrapping it with something.

I have used a broom handle on a clutch job before. Essentially it is a dowel of the correct size. You may get lucky looking around the house.

Broom Handle huh?

A broom handle, that's pretty good. I am glad that I am not the only one looking for alternatives to OEM BMW tools. I found myself using the lid to my KitchenAid Coffee Grinder to seat my rear main seal. My wife was not amused.
