First off I have and 02 R50. The car it self has 92,000 in it, but the motor is out of an 06 with only 42,000 on it. Yesterday I was driving around town doing some errands and stuff, and while sitting at the light i smelt something funny an my temperature went up rather quick. I pulled over and shut it off and there was smoke. the collant resevoir was overflowing and squirting out, which i think was causing the problem. I let it sit for a while and it started back up and i turned the heat all the way up and drove it home and it stayed cool. After I got it home and it cooled down I checked the coolant and it was empty. I filled it up and started it back up, now there seems to be a slight ticked on the passenger side of the motor when I start it up.
Thank You all in advance. I was going to replace the thermostat but now im not sure what the ticking is.

The smoke and smell was because there was antifreeze squirting all over the heat shield and everything. I figured out the ticking. It was just something thats rattling that I fixed. It runs and everything just fine but if I dont leave the heat on it starts to overheat. So im going to be chanding the thermostat tomorrow, hopefully that helps! Thanks!
