Whoops! My thingy popped off!
When I was jacking up my car for the first time I managed to pop off the rubber block "thingy" at the jack points. Is there any hope of reattaching it?
I also worry about water getting up in the frame, but maybe I'm obsessing.
Any thoughts are appreciated.

It's not a problem. Just look underneith your frame rail where your "thingy popped off" and find the hole. Then just push it back in place by pushing that little thingy on top of your thingy into the hole. LOL once you have it started you can use your Jack for extra pressure if needed. It will just pop back into place.
LMAO!!!! You must have bent the hole a bit. If it were me, I'd try to use a moly bolt of some type. You can get them at a hardware store. It's basically a piece of metal that looks like a hinge kind of. It colapses as you push it through the hole and opens back up on the inside to give you a base to screw into. You would then drive a bolt through your jackplate "thingy" and into the moly that is now inside your frame rail. Wow, as simple as that is I think I just confused myself with my own explanation.

When using a lift with rubber pads, is it safe to use the "Thingy" as a jack point? Didn't know if this hard plastic piece would break/crush if you placed the pads from the lift on these points to lift the car.
I put very little prsessue on the thingy before it popped off. I don't see how it is meant to be used.
I was using a floor jack, BTW.
Oh, and replacing it was easy. Out Motoring has them for $15.

Those jack points (thingy's) are designed to receive the factory jack. When I use a floor Jack on my car, I start with the factory floor Jack to raise it up enough to fit my floor jack underneith my frame with a 3 foot 4" x 4" piece of wood in between the jack and the frame. This allows even distribution of weight so no damage will occur to the frame. Once I have it high enough I put a Jack stand underneath the "thingy" and use those points for support.
Its meant to take load straight up, not at an angle. You probably put load on it on an angle. You need to push the pin underneath from the center to spread the legs to grab onto the frame rail. Don't glue it, thats a terrible idea.
Its only a $23 part from thee dealer.
Its called a jack point.

Sorry for resurrecting such an old thread but I figured this was better than starting a new one - plus the subject of this one is great.
Someone posted above a question on these jacking points: I want to confirm they will NOT crush under the weight of the car when using a jack and/or jack stands? Is it suggested to put one of the expensive aluminum pucks (or a cheap hockey puck) between the plastic jack point on the car and the jack stand?
Just want to make sure they wont simply crush as I lift the car up by them or lower it down onto jackstands (may use the 2x4 on the frame rail method to get the entire side of the car up).
Thanks in advance for your feedback!

When using my friends lift, I put the lift pads right on top of the oem jack pucks.
I had 2 missing when I bought my car and ordered some nice aluminum ones made of billet, painted black, and they attach with toggles.
Got them from www.waymotorworks.com Kind of expensive ($95) but they are well made.
