Climate control problems

I just had to have the alternator repaired on my 2003 Mini Cooper S and now the computer display is messed up. The mechanic does not know what to do. The outside temp. displays as -40% when the actual temp. outside is 90%. When I set my climate control to 60% it blows out hot because it thinks it is -40. Can anyone help with this problem?

Sounds like a problem with the outside temp sensor located behind the front bumper. The reading will default to -40 if there is a problem with this sensor.

Thank you for the reply. I started my car up this morning and it seems to have reset - the reading was 83 which is correct for FL at 8 am believe it or not! We are in for a hot summer again! I have a problem with the hatch open light on the dash now and all of my doors are closed. Any suggestions?
