P0171 & P0507
Hey all, I'm new to the site. My name is Greg and I'm from Buffalo New York.
We recently bought an 04 MINI S and within about 8 hours of bringing it home the engine light came on! I asked the dealer about it and they basically said they can fix it but I'm paying for it (outside of the warranty).
Anyways I took it apon myself to do some research and trouble shoot the problem. After reading countless post on this site and others with the same symptoms as mine I had a good idea on where to start! My problem was the rubber boot between the super and intake was folded over on the underside. I found the problem with alittle brake cleaner and fixed it within 10 minutes. Also the engine light has turned off and its running 100% better, although start up seems 'odd' until it warms up. . .
I'd like to thank the MINI community and your camaraderie to helping others with not so MINI issues.

Glad you fixed it!
If your startup problem continues, please post and try to describe the issue the best you can.
As for the engine codes, you can reset the computer yourself (i.e. clear out all previously recorded faults, even if the engine light is off). Search the threads on how to do it. If memory serves, you have to hold the trip reset before you insert the key to start your MINI. The menu will eventually prompt with options on what to do.

Yeah I'm going to do alittle more research on that. When it starts up it runs like it has a mild cam for about 2-3 minutes (until it warms up). Thanks for replying
