P0642 Code Limp Mode

2003 MINI Cooper S that goes into Limp Mode within 100 yards of clearing the code and P0642 is all that comes up. That code is associated with the Vague "Sensor Reference A" which I do not know what that means. Nothing in Alldata leads me to what it really means as it is effectively a non-defined code. On VWs it is nearly always a knock sensor issue of some sort. I searched this forum and there was no definite information.

I found it. A Rat/Mouse had knawed a section of wiring harness near the knock sensor. It was shorting into each other. Now car is not in limp mode with no CEL.

Hello,
That is a story that had me out looking at my harness. What is it with rodents and plastic anyway?
