how much to replace an 05 mcs cooling system?

Hello I was wondering how much it would cost to replace the whole cooling system on the 05 mcs. I called the dealership and they said it depends we would need to do an inspection where it may cost you nothing, but say in all likely hood it needs to be replaced what is the cost, i have 100,000 miles on my mcs.

In addition, maybe labor prices?

thank you in advance

Going to a dealer and saying " replace the cooling system" is like going to a brake place and asking to have a brake system replaced ( some places will really stick it to you...new hardlines, new calipers, etc... ). Where do you stop? Could be thousands of dollars...some parts wear, some don't.
Why do you want it "replaced"?
Do you just want it freashened? Like new hoses, thermostat, waterpump, etc?
If you have 100,000+ miles, and do the labor on a waterpump...you might want to consoladate jobs and do a SC rebuild, or a lube...

Kind of a strange question.
What is the problem and what are you trying to fix?
You probably don't need to replace the "cooling system"

There's a guy selling some cooling parts on Craigslist in Chicago. Among a few other parts, he's listing:

A/C CONDENSER - $164.25

COOLING FAN ASSEMBLY - $109.91

http://chicago.craigslist.org/chc/pts/1707719585.html

He keeps reposting them, and they've been up for a few months so I bet you can talk him down on the price if its what you need. Good luck...

I think you should figure out exactly what you need and only replace that. Asking to have the entire cooling system replaced would cost over 2k, especially since that would include replacing the heater core.

Keep it simple, it will be much cheaper.

Just tell them you need the leak fixed...might be a $45 part...the tank, or a thermostat(similar in price), plus instal.
Never try to diagnose the problem or tell the mechnanic what to fix unless you are very sure...saying what you said is setting yourself up to be advantage of with a huge bill (thousands of $$$) for a $100 fix.
Tell them the problem...you are loosing coolant, and you have seen some dried coolant stains in x location....you don't know more...so just say you need the leak stopped. Ask for them to give you an estimate, or just fix it if it is under x dollars (pick a number you are comfortable with, like 300$), if it more, they will likely describe the problem, explain the fix, and get the ok to fix it.
