has anyone had this jingling sound silenced on their belt tensioner ?...only hear it at idle...2005 MCSa

 

Determine if it is the s/c which is known to fail, or if it is the belt tensioner.

If it's the s/c, you may be able to remove it and drain/fill the oil, although it's a 6+ hour job.

If it's the belt tensioner, replace it.

 

sc sounds fine...it's the adjustment tab that sticks out of the tensioner vibrating at idle...just can't reach it with my hand...I heard that sometimes bending the tab works...not sure I want to risk that

 

get a long screw driver... push it between the spring and bend it.. otherwise spend some money and change it

 

thanks for your input...I will try the bend...otherwise it will have to get changed...
