Clutch pedal is hard to push

I just got a 2003 S. I've had it for a month now, and the clutch pedal is so hard to push down. Its almost unbearable. Are all mini's like this? If not whats the problem. And if all mini's are like this, can i make it easier to push down?

Also when i take off from complete stop to go, i hear a loud noise, what could this be?

Thanks

It sounds like you might have had a high performance clutch installed by the previous owner......the standard clutch pedal is firm...but not difficult or super heavy.

Stiff pedal + loud noise = could be the throwout bearing.

Curious, has the pedal pressure changed since you bought it? I own a 2003 MCS and when I bought it back in 2005, the clutch always seemed to be a bit stiff to me, especially when compared to various other manual cars that I've driven. That all changed when I swapped to a performance clutch and lightened flywheel. The amount of pressure necessary to actuate the clutch changed dramatically and became much easier. Perhaps the only solution is to swap your clutch out with another setup, as more than likely the only way to decrease the pedal effort is to use a different pressure plate.
