Car going into ds mode while driving?

On friday i WAS STOPPED AT A LIGHT WHEN I HIT THE ACCELARATOR the car barely moved and then noticed it was in manual 1 mode. The next day i was driving and it went into ds mode by itself. Has this happened to anyone? I never use paddle shifters so i no it wasnt that. When it was in m1mode tthe light oon the sport button wasnt on.

Only thing I can think of (that isn't a malfunction) is that you may have moved the automatic shift lever to the left. When you do that, you're in manual shift mode (which is an alternative to the paddles). That shouldn't have anything to do with Sport (DS) mode, though.

You are correct. When you move the shift lever to the right it goes into DS Mode. It won't go into M-1-6 mode until you actually move the shifter to the + or -. Once it is in M-1-6 it stays there until you move the shifter back to the right or D mode. The same holds true with the paddle shifters. You can use the paddle shifters in D mode to up or downshift. The indicator will briefly show what gear you are in then go back to D mode. If you move the shifter to the left and hit the paddles, the car will go into M-1-6 mode and stay there until you move the shifter back to the right. The system is redundant but works pretty good.

I've heard the slip rings in the steering wheel going bad can cause that problem. The slip rings basically keep the paddle shifters connected while you turn the steering wheel. If they're going bad it'll cause all kinds of weird stuff with the shifter.

Ok. I fixed mine by changing out the battery. Old battery does not have reserve and occasionally drops to 9.xV even when engine is running (because AC fan is on, power steering is electrical and I was making turn, and many other loads even when alternator is running. The TCM does not like 9V and it is the first module to act weird. U can watch your voltage with one of those USB charging adapters with voltage reading. In my case, it is not shifter, not the PRND assembly, not the wiring connection to TCM, it is just the battery. Remember to register your battery and ideally buy the same AH and type (lead acid or AGM) that your car is set up for.
