Start problems

Hey y'all, well I finally got the cooper S I have been after for years. I love driving it. Now with that said I have a bit of a problem I really need some help with. For some reason it has been not starting. Mind you it will not even turn over, but when I flip the key on all the accessories and the radio will come on. I have repalced the battery and everything else is fine. I took it to a shop and they told me it was the Clutch Start Lock switch. I have paid them to fix it. They "fixed" it and sent me on my way. Now the problem have repeated itself. So I got under the dash to see what was going on. Low and behold there is no switch where it should be. Farther looking shows that there is an aftermarket alarm system installed. For some reason when the alarm was installed they took out that switch and wired around it. I have been waiting for a month for this shop to get the parts and get my Cooper fixed. Any ideas for a fix?

I work for a nationwide auto group and we own 5 Mini dealerships. Sorry to say none of them are close to me. But I can buy parts cheap. I called them and they told me I would need to have a shop rip out the alarm and replace the switch and take it back to stock, but the shop I called wanted $400 to do that. Has anyone done anything liek this before?
