Problems with my MINI

Hi:

I tried to start my MINI and it did not start. I have a brand new battery. When I tried to start it the lights come on inside the vehicle, the driver window went down on it's own, the daylight driving lights come on, and it does make a sound like click, click and that's it. Does anyone had this problem before? Ah! Before I forget the last time I drove my MINI was a week and half ago. Thanks in advance for your help.

Usually the click is indicative of a dead battery. I'd start by checking the battery connections at the terminals, then the ground off the battery. Other than that, I dunno what would still click. Bad plug wires will turn over but not start. Bad engine ground wont do anything. But check them both anyway... Ignition coil would also at least turn over... I dunno what a bad coil pack would do. I dunno... but thats my best thinking for 5 am.

The MINI ECM (Electrical Control Module) will behave strangely when the battery is near dead and cause various accessories to go crazy. When my battery died, the windows would start inching down when I tried to start the car. I know it seems bad, but you probably only have a dead battery despite the strange electrical behavor.

Check the passenger side motor mount for a loose ground connection. Have seen that before.
