I wanted to check if anyone experienced the same problem: on my 07' MCS brake pedal activates some switch which makes knocking noise when only in Park (auto transmission). I don't think this noise was there before. It sounds as some switch is being activated and I can even feel it in the shifter area (where cupholders are). It doesn't make that sound when in D or R or in Neutral, it doesn't make that sound when the car isn't running however it makes that sound when ignition is on.

Any ideas? I want to avoid trip to the dealer if it is normal.

 

It's normal. It's the park interlock switch. When you press the brake down, it releases the lock mechanism in the shifter so you can take it out of park. That's why you feel it in the shifter.

 

Thanks MINIDean . I guess I just didn't pay attention to it. Maybe it just became louder after 35K miles.
