OBDII Reader will not Link to 08 Mini

After a recent engine code appeared I connected my Innova 3100 OBDII code reader which I've have for a few years to my wifes 08 Mini Cooper S.

Unfortunately now matter how much I tried it would not link and kept coming up with Error.. It works on other vehicles..

Having emailed Innova i have no relpy.

Any idea's??

Did you have the ignition on but the engine not running when you were reading the codes? I've got an Innova 3100 and it will not read the codes unless the "key" is in the running or on position. Worth a try...

sometimes you have to jiggle the connector into the car. It'll seem like it's connected, but actually you don't have continuity. Also, check that your ignition is in position 2, with your service engine soon light on.

I don't have the model number on mine but it does the same thing and I have to actually start the car if I want to clear the codes. If I try to erase them with the car off, I get the "NO LINK" and an error. Start it up, it links, reads and I can delete without a problem. Good luck!
