Steering Problems, please help!

My mini just recently started driving funny. the steering feels like i have to turn the steering wheel a lot more than i used to in order to turn. it also feels like there is more play in the steering wheel and its not as responsive as it used to be. also i have looked at what other people have been saying about their steering problems and it seemed like this could be a power steering problem, but the power steering noise is still present and the steering wheel isn't hard to turn but instead it feels like it is too weak. this problem just started about 2 days ago. any help would be appreciated!!!!!

Odd, normally requires more effort when the ps pump is failing.

Steering rack is a possibiltiy.

What year MINI do you have.... ?

I'm often a proponent of driving around in spite of a problem with your car--what's the worst that can happen: you get stranded? In this case, do not drive your car Brakes and steering problems are not to be messed with. Get it towed to a reputable shop and let them fix it. It's your life and others that are on the line.
