Bought my 02 MCS used from a private party (13.5K) and it didn't have Xenon lights,which I've never used but think I might like. I'm really into SEEING when I drive at night (not even related to the speed....)

A guy on ebay is selling lights which he says are "plug and play", he says they'll replace my standard light bulbs and give me white lights (as opposed to the standard yellow) without modifications...

Can it be true? I haven't even checked how to change my light bulbs...My brights work great, but my low beams leave a lot to be desired....

I had inquired at the dealer to find out how much the Xenons would be to retrofit,and I only remember I wanted to forget the price they quoted me as quick as possible! Of course,I wouldn't have those fancy headlight wipers (think I'll live..)

 

I just rechecked his ad, and the lights are 100W White Xenons...

will I really be able to replace my standard bulbs with these? If so, will it melt my light sockets? Its just sounding too good to be true...

I was under the impression that you could not just stick in some xenon bulbs due to the amount of heat they generate. I believe you'd have to replace the plastic covers with glass, which is probably why your dealer's price was forgettable.

All this comes from a xenon discussion with my boyfriend, who generally knows his poo about cars.

Xenons generate tremendous heat, and I believe that they cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $660 - $1000. Lot's of bills that could get you lots of enchiladas. But not at Chi Chi's.

 

Don't believe that, there is a lot of people on ebay offering "HID xenon bulbs"... Those are just regular halogen bulbs with blue tint that gives you whiter light. Don't go cheap, you will waste your money.
If you really want HID lights you MUST buy a conversion kit. I think yours are H7, so just check on ebay a seller with good feedback selling a conversion kit for your car. You can get a good one for $200-$350... I know MTEC is a good brand, you can check some others.
The OEM HID temperature color is 4500k, but most people get 6000k which in my opinion looks better (bluish).
