02 MCS Tach problem

Hey everyone... It's been a while since I've been on here, but I have a weird problem with my tach.

The other day I go to turn it on and the tack flickered and jumped to 7-8k rpm and stayed there even as the car warmed up. I've notice this happen a few more times, but it only happens when it's freezing outside.

Anyone have any ideas

I have seen them being swapped out at dealers for whatever reason. Absent a wiring issue, may just be a problem with the tachs circuit board.....

Check to see if there are any TSB's with your MINI Dealer.

I also seem to remember Wayland of Waymotorworks recently stipping down a 1st Gen MCS. Give him a call or check his web site for used parts. Should be an easy swap, and then you can turn your old tach into a clock or something......
