2005 mini has continuing oil pan leak

does anyone know about oil pan leaks...the gasket has been changed twice and the dealer says he is stumped as to why it is leaking...could this be an issue due to the hydraulic motor mount? as i suspect it needs changing...dont think my dealer knows a whole lot inspite of being an exclusive mini dealer in our area... thanks for any insight

The oil from the motor mount is very thick and viscous.....more like corn syrup than oil. I'm not sure how a failed motor mount could cause the failure to a gasket bolted onto a cast-iron block...I don't think there is much flexing going on. Maybe they took a shortcut installing the gasket...it is very involved according to the manual, but many people have found quicker ways to do it.....

Maybe the pan has a hairline crack in it, or it's not really coming from the pan. A leaking crank seal or one of the sensors with a failed O-ring can make a mess, and the oil runs down where it drips off the pan.

Auto parts stores sell a cheap dye kit, then you shine a black light on it to see where it's coming from.....
