that screw serves no purpose other than positioning the rotor b4 the wheel studs go in. If you managed to get the rotor off and can get the wheel back on ... GO FOR IT....most folks have problems getting it OFF so they can pull the rotor!

order some for next time and coat with 'anti-seize' b4 u re-insert . . .

If you do decide to put new retaining screws back on, put anti seize on the threads and only snug them tight, they do not need to be super tight.

Also put some anti seize on the center hub to make removing the wheel and rotor easier next time.

Yeah once you have the wheel on with the lugs torqued down that little bolt isnt doing anything! And it is not as if the rotor can fall of when you are swapping your wheels around because the brake caliper isnt going to let it go anywhere either.

When I swapped my rotors a couple of months ago I snapped both heads off - so that's that - maybe deal w/ it in the spring. It can be a PITA trying to get the wheel bolt holes lined-up at times, but now that my snows are on I don't plan on R&R'ing wheels now 'til like April (unless I get my ice-racing wheels done)

minicarparts.net (Atlantic British) has the bolts - not sure if shipping would make it cost-prohibitive...

I'd be cautious about not tightening down new ones, depending on the wheel being used (specifically the mounting surface) you could end up w/ a wheel not flat to the rotor, creating a "wobble"...

+2 on the anti-seize - copper...

When I replaced my rotors I snapped the mounting bolts as well. They are pretty soft so drilling them out and cleaning up the threads wasn't bad. The only place I could find replacement bolts was the dealer. They aren't expensive and the new part now has a triangular shaft (for thread cleaning?).

FYI - I could not get to the dealer right away, so I drove around without the bolt for several weeks without issue. The only hassle is getting the hub/rotor/wheel holes aligned when putting the wheels back on!
