Engine support bracket snapped!!

Im driving down the road yesterday and I hear something starting to rattle. So when I get to my office I find that my engine support bracket has snapped on one side. This caused the engine to drop down and snap the bolts in the front off.
Anyone else ever have this happen. And where the heck can I get another. I've been calling everyone and no one knows what im talking about. Not even the guy at the dealer could find it, but he did know what I was talking about.

Eng Supporting Bracket -OEM PN - 22111514490

I think I located the part number you are looking for.

You may want to check out the following link which shows the bracket (item 1):
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...66&hg=22&fg=05

Check the date code of your car to ensure the right part in the catalog.
I used 10/2003 during the lookup.

Hope this helps....

that looks like the right part # and any dealer should be able to get it for you.

I've not seen that happen before. Did you hit something or loan your car to someone and they hit something? Based on your sig mod list doesn't look out of line. How many miles are on the MINI? Did you check the lower mount?

I daily drive the car and havent done or hit anything out of the norm. And im the only one that drives the car. I drove around on a broken motor mount for almost a month so that could have weakened it.

I ended up finding it on allminiparts.com and they do not require a core.
Now I still have to drill out the front two bolts that snapped off in the block.

I guess we just never know what a mini will do. Sometimes they will burn to ground and other times the engine will try and fall out

One of these days mine will eject me into the earth's orbit. And of course, MINI will say it's due to "outside influence".

Of course they have to say its outside influence. Its a philosophy called CYA (cover your a$$).

I think mine failed due to the motor mount failure. Everything else appears to be fine. The car does have 120k and is driven pretty hard everyday so I guess things like this are bound to happen. It could have been a lot worse so I cant complain. Minus having to drill out two of the bolts.

Yeah I replaced the mount about two months back and didnt think of any damage that could be lurking.
It does appear that it did tear the cv boot on the right side so hopefully thats the extent of it.

I did a little research and what to offer this info.

My team of techs thinks that the OEM Mount #22116760448 went bad. We've replaced a few of them. The tell tale sign is the mount begins to shrink on MINI' over 75K. If that mount is left bad for too long we think that the extra stress on the bracket may have led to the break at the weakest part of the part. Note that's the parts used till Nov 2003 built MINI'. Also check the lower mounts they can also go bad if the top mount is left bad for too long.

Then they changed over to the leaky one

Note this was posted before seeing Zman's last post.
