Transmission Problems MCSa NOT CVT

Ok My Mini has over 100K on it so yes I except some problems but the car will sometimes not shift into gear for a couple seconds sometimes. It happends when the car is warm but not all the time and mostly just 3rd gear into four. I can drive for days without it happening. The car had no codes after this happends which I think is strange.

I took it to a local shop ( Mini dealer over 100 miles away) to be told its a CVT just replace it for 8k. After telling them 20 times it's not a CVT I just gave up. They scaned the car with no codes but somehow could SEE the transmissions internal failure. (They said it was hard to see due to my skid plate???) Now I'm not sure what to do. I called the dealer they want to see it but also think its the transmission.

Anyone know if the transmission can be fixed or should I just replace it? I read some stuff on here but I don't know to much about transmissions. Any info would be nice thanks!!

2005 MCSa has a M7 crank pulley, 17% pulley, intake, exhaust.

I wonder if just a normal service of transmission fluid replacement and filter would help your shifting. Sounds like this shop doesn't have a clue - perhaps try another transmission specialist.

Just replacement as far as I know.
I also agree with the fluid change to see if that makes any improvements before replacement.

Sorry I forgot to mention I had that done about 2k ago, when the problem started. I only had the fluid changed so maybe. I have a feeling a trip to the dealer maybe in my furture.

Mine does the same thing sometimes - third to fourth. Maybe a couple of times a week now I notice it - so far only notice it when I'm using the paddles in manual mode - which is usually. Developed it over the past 5K miles or so - now at 62,000 miles. I'm going to do a fluid change sometime soon... but otherwise am gonna drive it until it fails, or until a rebuild is an option.

This tranny (Aisin TF-60SN) is used on a few different cars I think... and has been for a few years now... seems like someone would develop a service/rebuild option for this thing.

since the dealership in apparently in denile about your transmission type, and the problem started after it was serviced...maybe they put the wrong fluid in it when it was serviced?!
Also if you are out of warrenty, any transmission specialist should be able to work on it....from what I understand the Asin transmission is pretty convential desgin.

The problems started before the fluid change, I had the fluid changed for that reason. It wasn't the dealer that did the change but I know they put the right stuff in.
