Where is the O2 sensor????

I have a 2005 5 speed cooper that needs to have the O2 sensors replaced. I've read already on multiple threads where people have swapped them out rather easily, but could someone please help me locate these O2 sensors?
I've been going nuts trying to find where they're at on the darn car online.

Thanks in advance!

It is still under warrenty. MINI extended the warrenty on the o2 sensors....give them a call before you spend $$$ to replace them.
One sensor is on the exaust in front of the cat, one is behind.

I checked, and it is still under warranty!
The only catch is that the dealership will connect the car to their diagnostic machine, and determine if it's really the sensor. If it is then it won't cost me a dime. If it's not then the starting price on what the repair will run me is $150 for connecting it to the darn machine. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

Thank you for the advice!

In August 2009, MINI extended the warrenty on "certain MY 2004-2006" automobiles due to an issue with the "durability of oxygen sensors". The warrenty was extended to 10 years or 100,000 miles...and is fully transferable to subsquent owners. Call 1-800-ask-mini if you have any questions.
I hope this info is useful to a few people. The info came from the letter I dug out that I recieved from MINI USA.

Found it, but...

I have a 2003 that throws a code that the 1st sensor is bad. I have found it and can see that wire may be worn because it sits against one of the heat shields. I didn't call about warranty replacement because I have 121K miles. My question is how do you disconnect the wiring harness? I have pushed and pulled, but can't find the trick. Also, I have seen both extension sockets with a groove for the wire and open wrenches for the bolt end. Which is the better tool to get at the bolt?

There is a little tab you push on the connector that will unplug it.

As for removal, a 22mm wrench works best. Those fancy 02 sensor sockets work too, but they are easy enough to get to in the MINI that the wrench will work fine.

If you need the sensor we stock them

From that diagram from RealOEM, I am going to assume that that part between the openings for the two number 8s (i.e., O2 sensors) is the catalytic converter. That is because I always read that the two sensors are before and after the catalytic converter.

Please confirm.

Regarding preparation, would you say that spraying some penetrating lubricant (mine is a Seafoam product) to ease the removal of the two O2 sensors would be a good idea.

Have the sensors, the removal/installation tool, some anti-seize. So all ready. Any other recommendations?

Thanks!
