I’m having a slight issue with the power sockets in my mini. I’ve replaced the fuse, but when the mini gets turned to the on position, I see the fuse blow out. Nothing is plugged in so I know it’s a short somewhere. Just curious if there is anyone who had the same issue before and has a good idea where to look for the potential short.
I'd start with the socket up front. From the stress of plugging various chargers in and out the plastic tabs of mine broke allowing the socket to turn. I could see how the wires could get broken or crossed ....
btw, as I recall the rear socket was on a different fuse on my 02 . . .
Cool, I’ll do that and see if it fixes it. I had a hunch it was the socket itself. I replaced the fuse once and it didn’t blow right away. Worked ok and when I moved the center console that it’s seated in, it blew the fuse. So I suspect it’s the connection right there.
So, turns out, everything is fine. I started to take the old outlet out and noticed that there was a penny shoved in the socket. It was what was causing the short.
so, removed the penny and all is working fine now.
