Does my Throttle Body look right?
Does my Throttle Body look right?
I just installed my new DT bypass valve and I decided to clean my throttle body while I had it apart.
Does the throttle body look like it's adjusted correctly?
I thought it should be closed more but I'm no mechanic.

I have one off my 2003 MCS laying right in front of me. It's appears to be slightly open, identical to yours.
Our throttle bodies don't have an idle air bypass valve or anything, so it is perfectly normal for there to be a small gap in the butterfly valve to allow air to pass through at idle speeds.
I'm not a mechanic, so someone with more knowledge than me, please feel free to correct me if wrong.

That is how it should look. That slight open crack is the idle circuit. The computer will adjust as it's running, but that crack allows enough air to start the car and idle.
By the way that looks pretty clean

bringing back an old thread.... sorry
but if i am correct this is why you hear that wistle after doing an intake on the MCS. in my mind is it silly that the engineers took a short cut and had the throttle stay open a little. But i am no engineer haha.

Depends on what whistle you're hearing. Mine whistles at about 15% throttle - so the throttle is more opened than the "idle crack" when mine whistles. I don't think it being cracked a bit at 0% throttle impacts my whistle. But if you have whistle at idle - then maybe...

Should it be closed more or is that the way it's supposed to be?
