Airbag light and Uneven Idle

My airbag light has come on (the red light on the speedometer) and i have taken it in to sort it out, well it came back with it off, but after a few days, its back on again. What could the problem be? Could it possibly be the aftermarket software/tune causing this?

For the idle, plugs or an O2 would be a good place to start.

How many miles?

The airbag light was on mine too. I was afraid it would be an expensive repair but it turned out to be an easy fix just replacing the cables sending the signal from the seat to the dash. What did you dealer do to fix it?

I had the airbag light on in my car so i pulled a tsb on it (lucky me). well there was a silent recall on a connector in the airbag system. it had "micro-cracks" on one of the connectors. mine usually goes away with a key cycle

The tuning file and plugs are not related to your airbag problem. You're going to have to find someone with a BMW/MINI scan tool to determine which airbag or connector is causing a fault. Rough idle can be caused by many things. If the cause is serious, then you'll get a check engine light as well. Is yours on? Don't start throwing parts at it until you have a better idea of the cause.

I had an airbag light issue in my old '02 MCS. Thankfully, I had it repaired before my warranty was out. Not sure what they will do if you are past it. Required it to be at the dealership for a week. I was told they had to replace all the related wiring that is under the carpet along the center section front-to-back.

When we bought our used 05 MCS, the overhead and dash airbag light was on. I brought it to a Mini dealer and they said the embedded sensor in the passenger side seat cushion was defective and was a recall issue. I was over the warranty period but they replaced it anyway, no charge.
