Mine had the harness for the front fogs however they deleted the harness beginning '08 from looking at the other MC's I've worked on.

I just found the power folding mirror module on my car even though I didn't order that option. Time for some more research.

Damn. Although I'm not exactly surprised. Manufacturers are pinching pennies everywhere they can now.

Did you use a Mongoose tool? Which one?

There is a thread about retrofitting the power mirrors somewhere in here.

Looks like you would need at least the outside mirrors and interior switch, not sure about the rest.

51162755640 Right
61313422622 switch $47.09

The one which is 287 USD on ebay may not fit the MINI's R56.

I've contacted the guys from Tuner Tools, they recommended
to use the Mongoose MFC. This one fits the most of european &
asian makes. 485 USD on ebay or 495 USD MSRP.

I used the $287 one.. (VW CAN/ISO) Either would work. The more expensive ones hold pin 12 high and Short to Ground pins 1, 9 and 15 for programming and thats for the Japanese cars, you dont need that for the Mini.

Awesome! Thanks for confirming that. Still not a cheap tool, even though it is the cheapest one!

The great folks at Drew Tech had a super training session on programming (those who signed-up got it on DVD). Although they didn't use the VW CAN/ISO used by turbo tel, it was clear that it is the BMW software itself that carries the burden (and a suitably solid laptop). It is amazing that turbo tel did it without Drew's lesson. Not for the timid unless you don't mind a $30,000 paperweight in your garage.

Oxy: do you know if there is any programming required to retrofit the new Harmon Kardon amp in a car with the previous HiFi system?

I've swapped out all the speakers and added the HK amp in my 2009 MCS, but the car's gong is waaaaaay too loud (can't adjust if you have the nav option, apparently), and the sound as a whole is waaaaaay too bass-y (compared with a 2010 loaner car with the HK option). Something is off, and I'm hoping it's just a matter of software telling the head unit what to send to the amp.

Okay, from what I have learned the past two weeks, radio and programming (as I am trying to retrofit HD/IBOC and a factory bluetooth module) what I would do is use the J2534 tool with BMW and update the radio software to the latest version and the amp to the latest software.

If you can retrofit the new amp and get the Vehicle Order updated, the radio and amp will quite possibly update themselves to the appropriate settings. If they don't update automatically you will need to get NCS Expert running to change the radio eq manually. I wasn't able to access the amp or the audio gateway with NCS but I was able to access the radio. I only had options for HIFI versus regular (and a few other model BMW eq profiles).

This is somewhat of a tangent, but would anybody have any experience coding Minis using a D-CAN cable and NCS Expert? There is a bewildering array of parameters that can be changed, but plenty of control is given for changing car settings, not just retrofit coding.

Looking for help on the translations of parameters from German to English.

Make sure you go to this post and use NCS Dummy.

http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum....php?t=1483234

But what I have been doing is using Google Translate. I guess at what parts of the option are words, etc. I have been able to figure out quite a few on my own, also by using pieces that have already been translated or figured out really help. The next step is to actually try changing the value and see what happens.
