Water in spare tire well

I discovered about an inch of water in the bottom of the spare tire well of my 2009 Clubman S. Is this a known problem? I suspect a rear seal, but don't see an obvious point of entry.
Thanks,
Ian

Was this a few hours after you realized someone had stolen the 100-pound block of ice from the boot?

Have someone in the back checking for leaks as you spray water with a garden hose on the back of the car.
