I'm telling you, these cars are so poorly built! If it wasn't so much fun to drive, I wouldn't own one!
My MCS has been already been in the shop for windows that magically roll down by themselves.
Now, at 4 months old and 14k miles it's going back for a few more issues!
-AC Failed. No cold air!!!!
-Dash rattles galore
-Clutch pedal clunks at full depression
What's next on this thing!?!?
Problems with my old 08 MC:
-Sunroof wouldn't open when hot (lemon'd)
-Paint peeled on roof and bonnet
-Misc trim pieces failed
/rant off

When I push the clutch pedal to the floor, I hear a loud POP and the pedal drops maybe 3/4" in travel instantly. Likely a bad bushing or something similar. So far, it hasn't seriously affected drivability. I just have to make sure the pedal is actually going all the way down.
My window on my new Just a Cooper today goes up and down and stops in the down position ! I can't get the window to go all the way up ! I called the dealership and the tech said just bring it in ! Yes i live 100 miles away = about a 2 hour drive with window down in this heat LOL !
I've got a 2008 MCS and I know the feeling. I've had two trips to the dealer to get my Windows reprogrammed (once in the winter) as my window would go up and then return to the halfway position - feels like Microsoft Windows.
My sunroof won't open on really hot days, however, I think I remedied this by placing a checkerboard decal on the sunroof glass. The sunroof hasn't been an issue since I placed the decal.
I've gotten an assortment of rattles that I'm prepared to live with and I'm anxiously awaiting the winter to see if my intake manifold will freeze up again (3x over the last winter). The dealer apparently has the fix but they won't fix my car until it freezes up again.
The only saving grace is that the car is a blast to drive.

Well they fixed my window but it took 4 hours and they fix the bees wax stuff that was oozing out under the bonnet . They replaced my Mini's front wheel arches with new ones ! I was not given a loner and had to ask my salesman to give me a ride for lunch . Total time at dealership 10 hours . 4 hours in total trip time . I did not know that computers run the whole car . Hope nothing else happens to my new Cooper
For some really odd reason...
the reprogramming of the body control module takes 4 hours or so! Really, that's enough time to back up my laptop via abacus!
Computers run everything in cars now....

I have rattles galore on my dash. My sunroof doesnt work when hot outside. I had the cold start issue fixed this spring. Now my idle has gone all crazy and the car vibrates. Still lots of fun to drive, but will i buy itwhen the lease is up, mmmmmmmm I've gone fomr 100 % yes to 50/50 on the fence.
Outcome:
A/C Issue:
AC hose routed incorrectly at factory, rubbed through at transmission mount? Part is backordered for two weeks. Failed to repair.
Dash Rattle:
Replacing dash pad. On order. Failed to repair.
Clutch:
Lubed bushings. Problem still exists. Failed to repair.

This is making me wonder if the '09 models are having some problems because of disgruntled factory workers in Cowley. I heard on the news a few months ago about a massive argument breaking out at the factory because BMW was laying off temporary workers and they were furious. Then, others on the message board expressed that they were worried that the workers would take their anger out on their cars by not doing a good job bolting them together. I don't think they'd be that stupid but still... it does worry me.
My 7-month-old Clubman has been ticking along smoothly with no problems at all. Transmission is trouble free. No cold start problems or a/c problems. No sticking sunroof. This, ironically, has me a teensy bit worried that Fate is saving the problems to unleash them on me all at once in the near future!

I wouldn't be surprised, honestly.
My AC died because the hose was misrouted.
Might have something to do with my car being one of the last off the line before the factory shut down in December.
In reality, these cars are historically problematic. I might go as far as to say crappy. They're fun to drive, though!

and they fix the bees wax stuff that was oozing out under the bonnet .
I remember a story about Cadillac (I think I read it in Car and Driver) around 10 years ago or so where they said GM factory workers usually left bolts inside doors or places not easily reachable so that cars would rattle forever without any way of fixing them. They were angry at the company. Funny to see how their plan backfired in the long term.
Sometimes when I look at my Cooper I wonder whether at least some of those workers are now at Cowley.
Because, quite honestly, I can't imagine BMW building a car with so many problems.
