Loose plastic trim on leatherette seats

I've tried searching topics on this whole forum but couldn't find anything about my problem. My gf just bought a used '06 MCS w/leatherette about three weeks ago. I just noticed that the two plastic trim pieces on the bottom left and right side of the passenger seat are loose. The trim hugs the sides of the seat perfectly up till it curves and reaches the front of the seat, and that was where it looks like the clip is loose and the plastic sticks out. There is a small gap between the plastic and leatherette.

I tried pushing the piece back in but it doesn't move. The rest of the trim fits perfectly fine except the front which looks like the plastic is too long so it doesn't hug the seat perfectly. I think a really large person sat in it before causing the clips to pop out. I hope my explanation is not confusing. I'll try to take pictures.

Has anyone else had problems with loose plastic on the bottom of their seats? The car only has 27k miles on it so I might try warranty, but do you guys think they'll fix? I know we should've noticed the problem before we bought the car, but everything else looked good.

Thanks for the diagram, buzzsaw. The part that is loose is clip #9 on both sides that's where the gap is.

That piece came loose on my passenger seat a while back. I put it on my list of things to look at when I went to the dealer. Yes, they fixed it.

Well, I just called the Mini dealer where the car was bought and they said this won't be covered by warranty since the car was used and this is a cosmetic piece. I guess I'll have to try to fix it myself. From the diagram linked by buzzsaw it looks like the whole plastic trim is attached by clips.

Has anyone ever taken off the plastic trim from the seats before?
