Freeway kill

This was very strange to me. I was driving on the freeway last night. I was in 6th gear and i started punching it a little. It did feel a little slower on pick up. The DSC icon flashed and stayed on then the service light flashed and stayed on. The car got VERY deep toned and VERY sluggish. I thought i blew the s/c or something because the car wouldn't go. I downshifted into 4th and the tranny felt normal but the car wouldnt go. I exited off the freeway and the car in first gear would stutter almost like those old card puh puh puh going along. I quickly pulled over and poped the hood. The S/C spun fine and the belt was still in tact. I checked the coolant, no oil mixture so no head gasket problem. I checked the oil and it was a bit low. I added a quart of oil and the car felt normal. The light is still on though, what happened? Did i do some critical damage?

P.S ive been quoted with a oil pan leak. I also have a 15% pulley, one ball, and intake

I suspect if the problem were spark plugs it would be running bad all of the time. At the very least, the problem probably would have continued.

I would start by getting the code scanned.

if it were the plugs then now i would have a thrown plug and have misfiring from it. The car seems to run smoother than before the incident. Its very strange. Power and everything is the same but the light is still on.

Gar, please take a moment to read https://www.northamericanmotoring.com/guidelines Esp. the no discussion of excessive speed allowed part.

Now that that's out of the way, what happened to you sounds like standard "limp mode", search for that it may lead you to more subtle symptoms, FYI when I got it it was a result of a vacuum line popping off.

At what point did he mention excessive speed?

Liten up dude. there was no mention of excessive speed. he said he was in 6th gear and punched it a little. if you are in 6th at 55 and punched it a little you could be at 65 or 75 which is legal limit is it not

Yeah if you noticed I edited the post, he mentioned very illegal speeds very specifically, I removed that but left the generic explanation a few word before that alone, and made sure he saw how we played here. So y'all can lighten up.

i hate this forum. I was being honest about the speed because maybe that could have something to do with the incident. Forums are here to help people but right off the bat you were being an ***...grumpy limp old men. I'll fix my car with or without your help.
Thanks guys, last i post here

lol, aren't people sensitive these days.

Anyways, the deep tone and bad performance of the car are characteristics of limp mode, which is the effect. You should look for the cause of the limp mode, which should identified by looking up the stored code in the ECU with a scan tool. From there you can start the diagnosis.

This happened to me when my harmonic balancer gave out, which was pretty simple to diagnose in my case.

Listen buddy, I don't care what your opinion is or if you are just restating the obvious. In fact, I am utterly offended by your attitude and lack of tact with myself and fellow posters, and also with your offensive username (i got it). Whatever. In fact, take this thread and shove it up your $%^!! I am out of here, this site is ridiculous. I am not going to ever post here again and I am go drive off at 135 miles per hour in a school zone. So there.

(It's a joke people, relax)

X2

this mod is very "touchy". a little to extreme to be a mod in my opinion. Needs to ligten up big time.
I got chastized and violation points for saying "screw you too" when someone called me a tool

can you imagine? what are we in third grade?
