Same thing happens to me when I get out of my wife's Honda CRV. Doesn't happen to her. Maybe has something to do with an individual's body chemistry? Sometimes the shock is quite severe.

Probably the type of shoes you're wearing. Trying holding part of the metal on the door as you step out, instead of stepping out and then touching the door to close it. Works on every vehicle I get shocks from.

Happens to me, too. I've seen what appeared to be a lightning bolt Seriously, I have seen a nice size spark. I just touch the back of my hand to the handle (less sensitive), then after the bite, I shut the door

Try taking liquid fabric softner and diluting it with water. Spray it on the seat. This works for me. When I start getting shocked again, I know it's time to spray away again.

When she gets out of the car tell her to touch the floor first and then close the door.

This is part of the reason that I think my car is evil. Whenever my son is in the car... the passenger side door shuts on his ankle as he tries to get out. This doesn't happen to anyone else, just him... We're pretty sure that she doesn't like him, but we can't really figure out why.

it's documented that women who experience this have had great results from simply pulling their tops off upon leaving the vehicle .

She likely wears silk, rayon or similar lingerie, pantyhose, socks, skirts, shorts etc. and her hair is likely longer than yours. All of these things make static electricity when rubbed over plastic, rubber or plastic fiber cloth.

You likely wear cotton (or just go comando) and wear slacks or jeans that are primarily cotton. Smaller body types tend to slide into the seat and swinging their legs in without touching the car body and so they don't ground themselves. (Just watch a woman enter a car and then a guy, you will see what I mean.)

Static Guard or the wipe-down with fabric softener is your best bet. You can also ground the seat or even the whole car with hanging straps.

Well, the solution seems simple. If clothes are causing the problem then remove the clothes!

@ herbie hind: this worked for a few days, but today she got shocked, I guess I'll have to try something more convential (JK)

we're going to try some static guard. she typically wears cotton, but she is short, so she turns and rubs to get out of the car...
