Exhaust leak?

05 MCS Cabrio. The niose has become progressively worse. It sounds like and old Buick w/ a 455 and single exhaust, when your sitting still and trounce the accelerator it has a fairly high pitched whoosing sound. This only happens on my Mini when accelerating in all gears and is quite noticible w/ windows down going along side of high curbs or wall to reflect the sound. It's doesn't seem to be transmission related as it shifts in all gears easily and there is no vibration in the shift ****, clutch or tranny. It is becoming very annoying!

I'm having the same problem. I have an '06 R52 JCW. The dealer found a leak in one of the mufflers. They suggested replacing the entire exhaust system cat back because they do not sell the mufflers individually. $1,200 for the parts. I'm now looking at the "one ball" repair that eliminates one of the mufflers, and can be done relatively inexpensively, or an entire after market cat back exhaust system. Might as well pick up some performance if I'm going to spring for a new system.

Just had mine repaired yesterday! I had a crack right near the flex joint that I had welded. Not sure how long it will last but I would rather spend 300 instead of 1000 right now. Big thanks to Mach 5 for getting me back on the road.
